Carpet tiles and carpets are optically identical. In addition, it is also possible to produce carpet tiles from a roll that is used for the production of a carpet. The difference between the two textile floor coverings is that carpet tiles are more flexible and easier to transport and install, which in turn reduces the amount of scrap and waste. Furthermore, in contrast to carpeting, it is extremely easy with carpet tiles to replace one or more tiles individually if they are damaged.

A floating carpet tile can be laid freely. This means you can simply lay your carpet tile on the floor without resorting to glue or adhesive. However, in heavily frequented areas, such as driveways or stairs, you have the option of attaching the SCHATEX^® carpet tile with adhesive.

Carpet tiles from SCHATEX^® score with numerous advantages. On the one hand, thanks to the choice of high-quality raw materials and a reinforced carrier material, they have a uniform technical profile: They are resistant, versatile, robust, antistatic, non-slip, flame-retardant, dimensionally stable, flexible, durable and yet economical. Furthermore, they can be installed and maintained extremely quickly and easily. Thanks to the so-called “floating” or “loosely laid” laying, they can be laid on the floor without adhesive due to their heavy back. In addition, carpet tiles can be replaced individually if damaged or at the end of their life. Floating installation gives you a wide variety of installation options, as you can choose the design and direction of installation yourself. Furthermore, the carpet tiles by SCHATEX ^® score with their high resistance to UV radiation. Another plus point of SCHATEX ^® carpet tiles is their positive effect on healthy living. Some SCHATEX ^® collections are also suitable for regular use of chair castors – including the SCHATEX Traffic, SCHATEX Smartline, SCHATEX Creatile, SCHATEX Effects, SCHATEX Elegance and SCHATEX Premium collections.

A SCHATEX^® carpet tile is made from 2 meter wide tubular rolls with a latex back. At the beginning, the untreated product is soaked in a bath made of liquid bitumen. One or even two layers of fiberglass are added between two bitumen applications. A protective cloth is then placed over it so that the bitumen layer is protected from dirt. The product is then cut with rotating knives in order to give it a suitable format. More information about production can be found here.

Sling: The fibres form sling, the ends of which are anchored in the back of the covering. The loop pile carpet is wear-resistant and is particularly suitable for heavily frequented areas. Sling scores with a very good price/performance ratio.

Velor: The yarn loops on a velor carpet are separated and open at the top. This creates a surface feel that is particularly soft and velvety. This makes velor carpets particularly warm, comfortable and homely. These carpets are particularly suitable for the bedroom.

Saxony: Saxony is a velor carpet, the longer yarns of which have been heat-set to give the product a grainy structure. These carpets are also particularly suitable for the bedroom.

Frizzy/curled velor: Frizzy carpets consist of long, interlocking, thermoset cut fibres that give them a wavy look.

Textured carpet: Structured carpets consist of cut and looped pile fibres, which create different patterns and designs on the surface.

Depending on the usage class, you can lay your SCHATEX^® carpet tiles in different areas:

– Usage class 21 to 23: These usage classes are suitable for private areas, especially in the living room or bedroom or in entrance corridors.

– Usage class 31 to 33: Carpet tiles with higher usage classes are suitable for laying in heavily frequented areas, such as offices, hotels, restaurants or trade fairs, with a transition from light to intensive use.

To start with, it’s important to check that the colour and bath number of your tiles are the same. Your surface must be solid, stable, clean, flat and dry. You should also make sure to switch off your underfloor heating at least 48 hours before laying. Then take all tiles out of their packaging and store them at a room temperature of 24 ° C. Carpet tiles can be laid quickly and easily, so that they are also accessible to non-skilled craftspeople. Now draw two orthogonal chalk lines on the floor in the middle of the room, starting from the middle of the length and width of the room. The point of intersection corresponds to the starting point for laying your carpet tiles. Then lay your tiles along the lines you previously drew. The very first tile should be secured with tape or a non-slip fastener at a right angle to the intersection. You don’t need glue or tape for the other tiles.

SCHATEX^® carpet tiles can be cleaned and maintained very quickly and easily. Dirt and dust can easily be removed with a vacuum cleaner. If liquids are spilled on the module floor, they can be dabbed off with a conventional paper towel. To avoid enlarging the stain when cleaning, it is best to rub from the outside in. If the stain persists, simply remove the tile and clean it with hot water or a sponge. A brush and mild detergent can be used. Then rinse your carpet tile thoroughly and wipe off any remaining liquid with a paper towel. Then let the carpet tile dry before you put it back into your floor. However, we strongly advise against drying the carpet tile on a radiator or any other form of artificial heat.

SCHATEX^® carpet tiles can be laid on various substrates such as concrete, parquet or laminate, but they are not suitable for flexible floor coverings such as carpets.

Carpet tiles can be laid in different ways. At the beginning you can decide which visual effect you want to give your interior by choosing a single or multi-coloured floor. Our range offers a diverse selection of different colours that can be easily combined so that you can create unique designs. For the technical aspect of the installation, you can choose between three different installation directions:

– Chessboard (quarter turn): In a checkerboard pattern, the carpet tiles are arranged at an angle of 90 degrees to each other, creating a tiled effect.

– Monolithic: In the case of monolithic installation, the arrows on the back of the tiles must all point in the same direction.

– Laying at random: With this laying direction, you can arrange your tiles however you want and achieve the visual effect you want without having to follow special instructions.

Yes, all SCHATEX^® carpet tiles can be combined with underfloor heating.
